Google Restricts Advanced Gemini AI Features to Seven Flagship Phones
· Technology · Android Authority, The Hindu
Google has restricted support for Gemini Nano 4, the underlying model for its newest on-device AI features, to just seven Android devices. The supported hardware lineup includes the Google Pixel 11 series and Samsung's latest Galaxy Z foldables, such as the Z Fold 8 Ultra. Advanced capabilities like Gboard's Rambler voice typing and Create My Widget require at least 12GB of RAM and qualified processors. Google's hardware-dependent approach means older flagship devices will not receive these tools via standard software updates.
Why it matters
Smartphone users must upgrade to expensive, high-spec hardware to access advanced on-device artificial intelligence capabilities.
