Gopalganj Police have arrested the Yadopur station house officer, a middleman, a driver, and a chowkidar for the illegal detention and extortion of five individuals. The accused allegedly held the group, which included a minor, for 36 hours in July without filing an FIR or obtaining legal authorization. Investigators found that the officers demanded Rs 50,000 and collected a total of Rs 1.3 lakh to release the detainees, who were initially picked up on suspicion of involvement in a drug case. Superintendent of Police Vinay Tiwari ordered an inquiry after receiving confidential information, leading to the suspension and arrest of the personnel involved. The investigation confirmed that the detainees were actually involved in a cattle transaction and had no connection to the drug trade.
