Gorakhpur Woman Alleges Physical Assault by Husband During Honeymoon

A woman from Gorakhpur has filed an FIR alleging that her husband, Nikhil Mishra, physically assaulted and attempted to strangle her during their honeymoon in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The complainant stated the violence occurred after her husband became angry when she got her period. She further alleged that her in-laws subjected her to mental torture and dowry harassment regarding items provided by her family at the time of their May 2023 wedding. The police have registered a case against the husband, his mother, and his sister. The woman claimed she was eventually expelled from her marital home in Delhi in July 2023.
