Government Announces High-Speed Corridors Linking Uttar Pradesh and North East

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced a 630-km high-speed corridor connecting Siliguri, Guwahati, and Shillong at a cost of Rs 61,500 crore. The ministry is also developing an expressway project to link Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh with Siliguri in West Bengal. These infrastructure projects aim to provide seamless, high-speed connectivity between Uttar Pradesh and the North East. The first phase of the Siliguri-Guwahati corridor, spanning 400 km, is estimated to cost Rs 30,000 crore and is currently in the approval stage.
