Gujarat loan for study abroad: Annual family income limit of unreserved students increased to Rs 10 lakh

The Gujarat government has lifted the annual family income ceiling for unreserved students under its ‘Loan for Study Abroad Scheme’ from ₹6 lakh to ₹10 lakh. The scheme, run by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department through the Gujarat Unreserved Educational and Economic Development Corporation (GUEEDC), offers study loans up to ₹15 lakh for courses such as MBBS, MS, postgraduate diplomas and certain post‑graduation programs. Eligibility requires a Class XII result exceeding 60 percent; the loans carry a 4 percent simple‑interest rate with repayment terms varying by amount. The move aims to enable more middle‑income students to pursue higher education abroad without being constrained by the earlier income limit.
