Gujarat Police Arrest Assam Man After Staging Live Digital Arrest

The Cyber Centre of Excellence of Gujarat Police apprehended 25-year-old Rafikul Alam in Barpeta, Assam, for his role in a digital arrest scam. The operation began after a retired government official from Ahmedabad reported being held under digital arrest for seven days by criminals impersonating Nashik Police. Investigators instructed the complainant to play along with the fraudsters, leading to the identification of a bank account used for money laundering. This sting operation allowed police to track the suspect to Assam and recover funds for 10 victims across Gujarat, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh. Three FIRs have been filed against the suspect at the State Cybercrime Police station in Gujarat.
