Gurugram Orders Work From Home for Offices and Schools Amid Heavy Rain
· India · Hindustan Times, Indian Express, The Hindu
The District Disaster Management Authority in Gurugram has issued a work-from-home advisory for all corporate offices, government and private schools, and institutions on Tuesday. The directive follows heavy rainfall on Monday that caused massive traffic snarls, waterlogging, and slow-moving traffic across several arterial roads and highways. The administration stated the advisory aims to reduce traffic congestion and facilitate smooth repair and maintenance work on roads and drains by civic agencies. The Indian Meteorological Department had earlier issued an orange alert for Gurugram and Faridabad, which was later downgraded to yellow for the entire Delhi-NCR region. Several parts of the city reported ankle-to-knee-deep water, including Sector 10, South City-1, Sector 69, Narsinghpur, and DLF Phase 3.
Why it matters
The advisory directly impacts thousands of corporate employees and students in Gurugram by shifting operations online to prevent severe commuting delays and allow civic authorities to clear waterlogged roads.
