HackerRank has officially made its AI interviewer, Chakra, generally available to customers after roughly six months in beta testing. The AI agent conducts interviews, observes candidates working within real-world code repositories, and evaluates critical thinking alongside execution. During its testing phase, Chakra conducted over 500,000 interviews with companies such as Snowflake, Snorkel, and Capgemini. The tool assesses what HackerRank terms AI fluency, measuring how well candidates frame problems and steer AI assistants toward solutions. This automated approach aims to streamline hiring by combining recruiter screens, take-home tasks, and engineering follow-ups into a single interview session.
