Haris Rauf fined 20% match fee for on-field clash with Will Jacks in Lahore ODI

· Sports · Times of India, Sportstar

Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf was fined 20 per cent of his match fee and received a demerit point for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the ODI against England in Lahore on Sunday. The incident occurred towards the end of Pakistan's innings after the 46th over when Rauf appealed for a wide and got into an argument with England all-rounder Will Jacks. Rauf raised his bat and continued the exchange despite being warned by umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, before brushing past the umpire while moving towards Jacks. England were separately penalised for maintaining an over-rate three overs below the required level, with their players fined 15 per cent of their match fees. Both Rauf and England captain Harry Brook accepted the charges and penalties proposed by ICC Match Referee Jeff Crowe, so neither case proceeded to a formal hearing.

Why it matters

The disciplinary action leaves Rauf with five demerit points after his third offence within a 24-month period, bringing him close to potential further sanctions from the ICC.
