Harshit Rana Faces Injury Setback Ahead of Afghanistan T20Is

· Sports · Times of India, Cricbuzz

Indian fast bowler Harshit Rana has sustained a fresh injury during a match simulation exercise as part of his Return to Play protocol in New Delhi. The setback places his participation in doubt for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan and the subsequent Asian Games. Rana previously suffered a hamstring injury during the third T20I against England at Trent Bridge and a knee injury prior to the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup. He recently completed rehabilitation after undergoing surgery that sidelined him for the Indian Premier League 2026 season with Kolkata Knight Riders. India is scheduled to play Afghanistan in New Delhi on September 13, 15, and 17 before departing for the Asian Games on September 18.

Why it matters

The injury delays the fast bowler's return to international cricket and forces team management to adjust their pace bowling options for upcoming fixtures.
