· Sports · Sportstar, ESPNCricinfo, NDTV Sports
Hasan Mahmud has made history by becoming the first fast bowler from Bangladesh to claim a hat-trick in Test cricket. The 26-year-old right-arm pacer achieved the milestone on the third day of the one-off Test against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi. Bowling the 83rd innings over, Mahmud dismissed Ismat Alam and Qais Ahmad before trapping Zia-ur-Rehman lbw following a successful DRS review. He joins spinners Alok Kapali and Sohag Gazi as only the third Bangladeshi bowler to take a Test hat-trick. The feat came during Afghanistan's first innings.
Why it matters
The milestone marks a historic breakthrough for Bangladesh fast bowling in international Test cricket, establishing Mahmud alongside the country's spin-bowling hat-trick achievers.
