K. Muraleedharan, Kerala Health Minister, directed all government hospitals to display detailed signboards showing doctors’ names, outpatient clinic days, timings, and number of sanctioned posts. The directive also requires listings of existing vacancies, consultation schedules, and the contact of the Deputy District Medical Officer (Vigilance) for grievances. He acted after complaints that patients waited long hours because doctors were absent during OP hours. The Principal Secretary Health is to implement the plan urgently across all health institutions, from primary health centres to taluk hospitals. Updates to the signboards must be made whenever there are changes in names or schedules. The order aims to increase transparency and accountability in healthcare delivery, ensuring patients know which doctors are available and how to register complaints.
