A deep depression has triggered heavy rainfall across 10 districts in Odisha, impacting over 73,000 people and forcing the evacuation of 40,000 residents. Government assessments report that 1,071 villages and 80 blocks have been affected, with 16 villages remaining waterlogged. While 721 houses sustained damage and 4,480 hectares of cropland were impacted, officials have reported no human or livestock casualties. Rising water levels in the Subarnarekha and Mahanadi rivers have prompted flood warnings in northern and southern districts, including Mayurbhanj and Koraput.
