High Net Worth Investors' NSE Holdings Surge to Record Rs 10 Lakh Crore

· Business · Economic Times, Indian Express

High net worth investors in India reached a record milestone as the value of their NSE-listed stock holdings surged by Rs 1.83 lakh crore to reach Rs 9.92 lakh crore by the end of June. Aggregate HNI holdings jumped 22.55% sequentially compared to Rs 8.10 lakh crore at the end of March, surpassing the previous high of Rs 9.56 lakh crore from December 2025. HNI ownership by volume declined from 7.31% to 7.19%, indicating that stock price gains and exposure to high-value companies drove the increase rather than fresh buying. HDFC Bank emerged as the single largest HNI holding by market value at Rs 28,972 crore, ahead of Reliance Industries at Rs 24,383 crore.

Why it matters

The milestone reflects significant wealth appreciation for affluent investors in Indian equities, driven largely by market gains in major blue-chip companies like HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries.
