Himachal to Launch Rs 1,500 Pension Scheme for Uncovered Families

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that the state government will launch the Mukhyamantri Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar Yojana from Solan on October 2. Under the scheme, women from around two lakh eligible families will receive a monthly pension of Rs 1,500 and 300 units of free electricity. Sukhu said surveys in panchayats have so far identified about 90,000 families that have not benefited from any government welfare programme. The Chief Minister also announced an ozone-based drinking water project in Dehra worth Rs 46 crore, a new veterinary hospital at Baddal Thor and an SDM office at Dadasiba, besides releasing Rs 3,500 each to 1,012 fisher families.

Roughly two lakh of Himachal's poorest families — especially women — will gain a guaranteed Rs 1,500 monthly income and 300 free electricity units, expanding the state's welfare net to households that earlier fell through eligibility gaps for existing schemes.
