In a viral podcast clip, Bharadwaj was heard boasting about the incident, but he now claims the video is fake and that his comments were made in sarcasm. He stated that he acted in self-defence during the protests to avoid being lynched by a mob of 10 to 15 people. Bharadwaj noted that the victim did not suffer serious injuries, citing a medical report provided by the Delhi Police. He further confirmed that he is cooperating with the ongoing investigation into the matter.
