· India · The Hindu, Times of India, NDTV
Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) will unveil its new 'Kannadiga' watch collection in Bengaluru on Sunday, October 31, 2026, coinciding with the 71st Kannada Rajyotsava. The collection features Kannada numerals, a Gandabherunda emblem, and a yellow-red Kannada flag, with two variants — strap and chain — priced at ₹3,500 and ₹3,600 respectively. Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy announced the release, stating the watches will include modern technology, radium glow, and Italian leather straps costing ₹450. The launch follows the sell-out success of the Gandaberunda collection, which formed a near-kilometre queue during its Independence Day restock.
Why it matters
Karnataka watch enthusiasts and Kannada cultural advocates gain a new heritage-focused product, while HMT strengthens its premium segment presence in the state.
