Hyderabad Home Guard Arrested, Dismissed for Assault

A Telangana police home guard named Anand was arrested and dismissed from service after a video allegedly showed him assaulting a woman and dragging her by the hair outside Hafeezpet Railway Station in Hyderabad. Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Ramesh said the home guard would be produced before the local court for judicial remand. Miyapur police registered a case against him under Sections 74 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita; the circumstances of the altercation and assault remain under investigation. The incident occurred at around 10 pm on Friday near Platform No. 1, where witnesses reportedly intervened. Miyapur police said the woman was a ragpicker and beggar who had allegedly abused Anand; the reason for the altercation remains unclear. The Secunderabad Central Railway repatriated Anand to the Telangana police department for disciplinary action, while DGP C V Anand condemned the conduct.
