Hyundai to Expand US Production Capacity at Georgia Plant

Hyundai Motor plans to increase the production capacity of its Georgia Metaplant to between 700,000 and 800,000 units annually by 2028. CEO José Muñoz confirmed the expansion in an interview, noting that the company aims to produce at least 80% of its U.S.-sold vehicles domestically. This move is part of a broader $26 billion investment strategy in the United States through 2028. Muñoz stated that U.S. tariffs on South Korean imports have accelerated the company's localization efforts. The Georgia facility currently produces electric and hybrid models for the Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands.
