ICMR Advises Against Panic Over Seasonal H1N1 Surge

ICMR Director-General Dr. Rajiv Bahl has stated that the current rise in H1N1 infections across India is a standard seasonal pattern, with no new virus strains identified. Most cases are mild and self-limiting, leading the medical body to advise that widespread testing and flu shots are unnecessary for the general population. H1N1 currently accounts for 97-98% of detected Influenza A infections in the country. Dr. Bahl noted that mortality rates remain low and expects the current wave to plateau or decline in the coming weeks.
