RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat told a gathering in New York on Saturday that anyone calling themselves a Hindu while opposing the presence of Muslims in India is not a Hindu. Addressing the 'One World One Humanity' event, organised by American Hindus for Engagement and Dialogue (AHEAD) and timed to Raksha Bandhan, Bhagwat said Hinduism believes in the unity of humanity and that different religions follow different paths to a single truth. He stressed that diversity must be protected and cited the Hindu philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' — the world is one family — as a guiding principle. The event featured cultural presentations and keynote addresses centred on universal oneness. Bhagwat is in the US as part of the RSS's centenary-year global outreach programme, which also includes planned visits to Canada and the UK.
