IISc Student Found Dead In Bengaluru Hostel Room

A 22-year-old MTech student at the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru was found dead in his hostel room on Thursday. Police recovered a handwritten note from the room citing personal reasons for the death. This incident follows the death of a 19-year-old BTech student at the same campus on August 6. The Sadashivanagar police have registered an unnatural death report and are conducting a post-mortem. The institute has offered condolences and encouraged students to access its 24x7 emergency mental health support services.
Why it matters
The death marks the second such incident at the premier research institute in less than three weeks, raising concerns about student mental health and campus support systems.
