IIT Bombay Faculty March in Support of Prof Doolla
· India · Times of India, India Today
The IIT Bombay Faculty Forum held a campus march on Monday to express solidarity with Prof Suryanarayana Doolla following his removal as Dean of Administrative Affairs. The institute removed Doolla from his administrative post after the death of 22-year-old student Sahil Ravindra Wakode, who was found in his hostel room on September 18. Faculty members clarified that Doolla remains a faculty member in good standing and was only relieved of administrative duties to ensure an unbiased investigation. Meanwhile, the student's family has alleged caste discrimination, and police have registered a case under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The Crime Branch is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the student's death.
Why it matters
