IIT Hyderabad Professor Kirti Chandra Sahu Wins National Teachers’ Award 2026 for Raindrop Research

Professor Kirti Chandra Sahu of IIT Hyderabad has been awarded the National Teachers’ Award 2026 for his pioneering research on raindrop shape and size distributions at different altitudes. His work, which includes developing a unique experimental facility to simulate atmospheric conditions, enhances rainfall prediction and climate modelling. Sahu, a founding faculty member, has contributed significantly to curriculum development, student mentoring, and academic leadership at IIT Hyderabad. He is also a recipient of prestigious honours, including the Young Scientist Awards from India’s top science academies and the J C Bose Grant. The award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu on September 5, 2026.
