IITs Bar 22 Firms from Campus Hiring for Two Years After 150+ Job Offers Withdrawn

The Indian Institutes of Technology will stop cooperating with 22 companies in campus recruitment for the next two placement seasons after they failed to honour over 150 job offers made to 2026 graduates. The decision was taken by the All IITs Placement Committee at IIT-Guwahati earlier this month, with formal communication to the companies expected by September 30. Oracle is among the companies facing action, having reportedly withdrawn around 40 offers across IITs, though it has not responded to requests for comment. The committee has not disclosed the full list of companies, noting that several startups are also included, and is still finalising the total number of unhonoured offers. IITs describe the measure as 'non-cooperation' rather than blacklisting, citing concerns over unreliable hiring practices during a cautious tech recruitment season. Campus sources indicate the AIPC had given companies until September 15 to onboard students who had received offers.
