The India Meteorological Department has issued an extremely heavy rainfall warning for South Bengal as a depression over the Bay of Bengal moves northwest. Districts including Purulia, Bankura, and West Burdwan are on high alert for rainfall exceeding 20 cm over the next 24 hours. Coastal areas, including North and South 24 Parganas, are expected to face squally winds reaching 50 kmph. Fishermen have been advised to avoid sea travel on Monday and Tuesday, while caution signals remain hoisted at the Kolkata and Haldia ports.
