The India Meteorological Department has issued a red warning for extremely heavy rainfall in Odisha following the formation of a fresh low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. The state is already managing a flood situation that has displaced approximately one lakh people across six districts. Officials have advised fishermen to avoid the sea along the coasts of Odisha, West Bengal, and North Andhra Pradesh until August 18. The current flooding has affected 2.70 lakh people in 503 villages, with the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar facing the most severe impact.
