India Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Assets and Shipping

India has reiterated its opposition to attacks on merchant shipping and civilian infrastructure amid the West Asia conflict, stating that Houthi strikes on Saudi Arabia's economic assets undermine regional stability. External affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that commercial shipping and mariners are being targeted, pointing to an attack on an oil tanker off the coast of Oman that left an Indian seafarer missing. The issue was discussed by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, on the margins of the BRICS Summit. Jaiswal condemned recent Houthi strikes on Saudi Aramco energy facilities and the East-West oil pipeline that disrupted global oil supplies. Despite these regional disruptions, India continues to receive energy supplies from the region, with Saudi Arabia remaining among its top three suppliers.
