India Criticises US Green Card Suspension and Defends Talent Mobility
· World · Hindustan Times, The Hindu
The Ministry of External Affairs stated on Friday that talent mobility benefits both India and the US by driving innovation and productivity. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal criticised US Vice President JD Vance's description of foreign professionals as unwarranted and offensive. Jaiswal noted that while the Department of Labor's suspension of PERM applications does not invalidate existing H-1B visas or dependent statuses, it will disrupt the green card process for eligible employees. He emphasized that the movement of skilled professionals creates shareholder wealth and mutual economic value. The ministry stated that the steps taken by Washington do not align with the shared ambitions of both nations.
