India Manufacturing Sector Sees Growth Amid Inflation Concerns
· Business · LiveMint, deccanherald
India's manufacturing sector experienced a recovery in September, with the HSBC India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index rising to a seven-month high of 55.1. This growth follows a five-year low of 52.8 recorded in August and was driven by increased demand for electronic, food, pharmaceutical, and textile products. Manufacturers have responded by upgrading output forecasts and increasing stock holdings of finished products. However, analysts warn that this momentum may be short-lived due to rising input costs and inflationary pressures. Persistent food inflation and high energy prices present significant challenges for the sector in the coming months.
Why it matters
The manufacturing recovery is critical for job creation and economic growth, but sustained inflation could erode business margins and consumer purchasing power.
