India’s First LNG-Diesel Dual-Fuel Train Flagged Off In Gujarat

Union Home Minister Amit Shah flagged off India’s first LNG-diesel dual-fuel DEMU train today at Sabarmati railway station in Gujarat. The 8-coach non-AC train, developed by the Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory, is designed to reduce diesel consumption and carbon emissions. During its inaugural run, the train travelled between Sabarmati and Mahesana Junction, covering approximately 62 km in 80 minutes. While the inaugural route is set, officials noted that the final operational route for the train has not yet been finalised. The project follows over 2,000 kilometres of successful field trials conducted on converted 1,400 HP Driving Power Cars.
