India Sets LPG Output Targets, Assigns Largest Quota to Reliance

The petroleum ministry has issued definitive output limits for 21 refineries and upstream firms, with a combined ceiling of 63,810 tonnes per day. Reliance Industries’ Jamnagar DTA refinery receives the highest ceiling of 18,000 tonnes daily. Public‑sector refineries are tasked with 31,470 tonnes per day, while Nayara Energy’s Vadinar unit must hit 4,480 tonnes and ONGC plus GAIL together 6,460 tonnes. These limits will trigger whenever supply disruptions or shortages occur. Domestic LPG output in 2025‑26 was 13.1 million tonnes, about 35,900 tonnes per day, against 21.3 million tonnes imported, roughly 58,400 tonnes daily, meaning 64 % of the nation's demand is met by imports that were cut off when the Strait of Hormuz shut during the Iran conflict.
