India Slams OIC at UN Over Jammu and Kashmir Remarks
· World · Times of India, The Hindu
India strongly rejected remarks on Jammu and Kashmir made by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday. West Tripura Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb delivered India's national statement at the UNGA Sixth Committee, stating that the OIC failed to distinguish between victims of terrorism and perpetrators. Deb defended India's focused actions against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, citing the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. He also urged the grouping to focus on Pakistan's illegal occupation and alleged rights violations in PoK instead of making unwarranted references to Jammu and Kashmir. Saudi Arabia delivered the OIC statement at the committee, which referred to military escalation and strikes in Pakistan without naming India.
Why it matters
The exchange underscores ongoing diplomatic friction between India and the OIC over cross-border terrorism and the status of Jammu and Kashmir at international forums.
