Play was briefly interrupted shortly after Thapa's goal due to inclement weather conditions. After the restart, Uruguay regained control of the match and added five more goals to secure the victory. Substitute Mohammed Sanan created one of India's few other scoring chances in the second half with a shot saved by the opposition goalkeeper.
