India to Ease Regulatory Norms for High-Tech Industries

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced in Tokyo that India will ease regulatory hurdles and BIS certification requirements for high-tech industries to promote the 'Make in India' program. Speaking at a roundtable with 25 Japanese companies, Goyal stated that the government is developing a framework for industry-level and bulk exemptions for necessary equipment and components. The government is also working to improve social infrastructure, including schools and hospitals, near the Dholera industrial hub to support Japanese expatriates. These measures are intended to deepen Japanese investment in India's semiconductor and electronics manufacturing sectors.
