Indian and Chinese Armies Hold Border Talks in Arunachal Pradesh
· India · Hindustan Times, News18
Indian and Chinese military commanders held corps-level talks at the Wacha-Damai border meeting point in the Kibithoo region of Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday. The Indian delegation was led by Lt General Girish Kalia, commander of the Army's Dimapur-based 3 Corps, with discussions focused on maintaining peace and tranquillity along the Line of Actual Control. The meeting followed recent Special Representative talks in Beijing between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. While there is no official statement on the outcome, the session occurred amid reports of increased military posturing by Chinese troops in the Upper Subansiri region. The two nations are currently working to stabilize bilateral ties following the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes.
Why it matters
These talks are critical for de-escalating regional border tensions and maintaining the fragile stability required for ongoing diplomatic negotiations between India and China.
