Indian Army Contingent Departs for MAITREE-XV Exercise in Thailand

An Indian Army contingent has departed for Surat Thani, Thailand, to participate in the 15th edition of the joint military exercise, MAITREE-XV. The exercise is scheduled to take place from August 18 to 31, involving 85 personnel from both the Indian Army and the Royal Thai Army. The Indian team consists primarily of troops from the 9 Gorkha Rifles, while the Thai side includes personnel from the 3rd Battalion, 25th Infantry Brigade. The training will focus on counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations in jungle and semi-urban terrain under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. The programme includes field exercises, combat discussions, and a validation exercise to enhance interoperability and mutual understanding between the two forces.
