The Indian Coast Guard, in a joint operation with the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad, intercepted an Iranian dhow in the Arabian Sea west of Lakshadweep on September 25, 2026. The high seas operation resulted in the seizure of 526 kg of heroin and methamphetamine valued at over ₹3,000 crore in the international market. Five Pakistani nationals aboard the vessel were detained and escorted to Mumbai under armed guard for joint interrogation and multi-agency legal proceedings. The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to curb maritime narcotics smuggling and dismantle drug syndicates operating near India's maritime boundaries.
