· Sports · NDTV Sports, Indian Express

The Indian contingent competing in the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, is facing severe logistical and accommodation difficulties. Athletes have endured lengthy delays in receiving room allotments, with members of the shooting team experiencing travel times of over two hours to reach training venues lacking basic facilities. Rowing Federation of India president Balaji Mardapa reported that his athletes waited nearly six hours upon arrival before local residents provided assistance with food and lodging. The multi-sport event is scheduled to begin on September 19 and run through October 4, featuring more than 11,000 athletes from over 45 countries. India's Chef de Mission has booked 15 additional rooms to help mitigate the ongoing housing shortage.

Why it matters
