Indian Donations Equip Nepal Hospital to Treat Flood Victims

· World · Indian Express, CTV News

Indian donations from the Indian Express Citizens’ Relief Fund have enabled Jibjibe Rural Hospital in Nepal’s Rasuwa district to treat flood‑injured patients. The fund supplied Rs 1.2 crore worth of critical equipment, including X‑ray machines and surgical tables, that the hospital received after the April 2015 earthquake. In the week following the recent flash floods, the hospital admitted 10 patients with bone fractures, head injuries and lung bleedings; five were treated on site. The remaining patients were referred to the district capital in Dhunche, where the most serious cases were evacuated. The facility normally serves the local community for routine care, vaccinations and minor injuries, but is now acting as a frontline flood relief centre.

Why it matters

The hospital’s upgraded capacity, funded by Indian donors, provides essential care to flood‑affected residents of Rasuwa and highlights regional cooperation in disaster response.
