Former India international I. Arumainayagam was conferred the Arjuna Award for Lifetime Achievement for 2025 in Bengaluru on Tuesday. The 85-year-old former winger was a key member of the Indian team that won the gold medal at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta. He also represented the country at the 1964 AFC Asian Cup, where India finished as runners-up, and at the 1966 Merdeka Cup. During his domestic career, Arumainayagam played for Mohun Bagan from 1961 to 1968, winning four Calcutta Football League titles and three Durand Cups. His son Nilton Christopher confirmed the family's gratitude following the official announcement.
