India's karate team is traveling to the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, without a dedicated coach after requests for accreditation from reigning Asian champion Alisha Choudhary went unanswered by sports authorities and the Indian Olympic Association. Choudhary repeatedly sought accreditation for Vikas Panchal, her coach of 11 years who is certified by the World Karate Federation and Asian Karate Federation, but the sports ministry's sanction list issued on September 2 named no coach for karate. Meanwhile, five equestrian riders in Tokyo are also scrambling for coach accreditations, with some considering a two-hour train journey to Nagoya to resolve the issue in person. The lack of coaching staff leaves athletes without crucial technical support in the coaching corner during bouts.
