The aircraft, which was carrying 174 passengers to Israel, made an emergency descent of over 17,000 feet following the incident. Two reserve pilots successfully landed the plane at Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Airport in Saudi Arabia, where the assailant was taken into custody. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that Captain Machchhar is responding well to treatment and remains in contact with Indian embassy officials.
