Infantino Proposes External Governance Review at FIFA Amid FFE Row

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has proposed an independent external review of the organisation's governance framework for major strategic initiatives and a consultation period with member associations. In a letter to FIFA Council members, Infantino tabled two reforms to be voted on at next month's council meeting. The move follows intense pressure over his aborted FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal, which would have created a new company to manage commercial and ticketing rights with 21% sold to a private investor. European governing body UEFA and CONCACAF recently demanded FIFA pay $10 million to all 211 member associations from its cash reserves, while UEFA also began preparing legal proceedings in the US over the disputed plan. Infantino, 56, is set to stand for a fourth term in March 2027, with opposing candidates facing an 18 November deadline.
