Instagram is updating its creator guidelines by replacing the optional AI creator tag with a mandatory "AI-generated profile" label for accounts featuring artificial personas. Accounts that fail to properly identify AI-generated humans face reduced reach on the platform. The change targets a surge in misleading accounts, such as fake wellness influencers and brand promoters uncovered by recent media investigations. Creators who believe their account was wrongly penalized can submit an appeal through the in-app Account Status dashboard.
