iOS 27 Expands Parental Screen-Time Controls
· Technology · The Independent, MacRumors
Apple rolled out iOS 27 last week with revamped parental controls for iPhone users. The update supports devices dating back to the iPhone 11 from 2019 and includes faster app loading. Ask to Browse requires children to seek parental permission before opening new Safari websites, and it is enabled by default for children under 13. Parents can approve requests through messages or on the child's device, schedule app access by category, and temporarily suspend or lift restrictions. Apple Intelligence features apply to newer iPhones beginning with the iPhone 16, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Why it matters
Parents gain direct control over children's Safari access and app usage schedules. iPhone owners with compatible devices can update their phones to use the new controls.
