IPS officer’s mother found murdered in Ambedkar Nagar, UP

An 94‑year‑old woman, mother of Ashutosh Mishra, a Superintendent of Police in Lucknow, was found dead at her home in Ambedkar Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday. The body, lying unresponsive on a cot in the veranda, had a cloth stuffed into her mouth and visible injuries on her lips. The victim’s jewellery, including a gold chain, tulsi necklace, nose pin, earrings and anklets, was missing. Police suspect robbery as motive and have registered a murder‑and‑robbery case against unidentified assailants at Malipur police station. Mishra, who had visited his ancestral home the previous day, reported that his mother had suffered a heart attack according to an uncle prior to the discovery. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities searching for suspects.
