Iran Announces $30,000 Bounty For Killing Or Capturing US Soldiers
· World · Hindustan Times, The Independent, France 24
The Iranian military announced a bounty equivalent to $30,000 for killing or capturing US soldiers, with the reward doubled if the action is carried out by a woman. Army chief Amir Hatami stated the plan followed numerous public requests to financially support actions against invading American military personnel. The bounty equals 5 billion tomans from the Islamic Republic of Iran's Army. The conflict between the US and Iran began on February 28 following airstrikes ordered by the Donald Trump administration and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government. The war has involved the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, retaliatory strikes on US bases and Israel, and an effective blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Why it matters
The introduction of military bounties deepens hostilities between Washington and Tehran, threatening regional stability and international shipping corridors in West Asia.
