Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that his country has no ambition to develop a nuclear weapon, calling such a program unholy and illegal. Speaking to Fox News in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Pezeshkian said Tehran is prepared to allow international inspectors to verify its nuclear facilities and dilute its enriched uranium stockpile. The International Atomic Energy Agency has previously reported being unable to obtain full information on Iran's nuclear material, leading its Board of Governors to refer the non-compliance issue to the United Nations Security Council. Pezeshkian blamed the United States for escalating the conflict through military action instead of pursuing negotiations. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has maintained that preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon remains a central US objective while dialogue continues.
