Ircon Puts Four Highway Assets on Block to Unlock ₹3,000 Crore
· Business · Economic Times
State-run engineering and construction firm Ircon International has put four highway assets on the block as part of the government's infrastructure monetisation programme. Axis Capital holds the sale mandate for the portfolio, which has an estimated enterprise value of ₹3,000 crore. The assets on sale comprise two build-operate-transfer toll-road projects and two hybrid annuity model projects located across Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Gujarat. The government holds a 65% stake in Ircon, which was upgraded to Navratna status in October 2023. For FY26, the company posted a consolidated turnover of ₹9,502 crore and a net profit of ₹592 crore, with highways contributing ₹1,205 crore to operating revenue.
Why it matters
The asset sale advances the government's infrastructure monetisation goals while allowing Ircon to redeploy capital from highway operations back into its core railway engineering segment.
